Title: No Love Lost !
Author(s): Stephen Smith
Date: 3-11-05

Synopsis: An adaptation of Goldsmith's classic comedy 'She Stoops to Conquer'. An aristocratic woman poses as a bar maid in order to capture her fancy: a man of similar class who is painfully shy of well bred women.

Appraisal: A solid, witty and highly entertaining adaptation. The piece feels like 'Gosford Park' meets 'Sense and Sensibility' with a touch of P.G. Woodhouse thrown in for good measure.

Title: Merchant of Moortown
Author(s): Sam Chesterman
Date: 23-4-06

Synopsis: A loose contemporary adaptation of 'The Merchant of Venice'.

Appraisal: Highly enjoyable and probing script which comically sets off Nathan a Leeds moneylender on the trail of an Italian pizza parlour worker who fails to repay his loan for a tacky wedding suit. Done with serious panache and modern day references that include those Leeds players on their night out.

Title: In Good Faith
Author(s): Peter and Alasdair Thanisch
Date: 6-7-07

Synopsis: Based on James Hogg's 'The Private Memoirs of a Justified Sinner' This book written in 1824 defies the usual god-fearing, clean living literature of the period and goes all out to slam the hypocrisy of the church, government and monied gentry of the day. Not surprisingly it seems bang up to date !

Appraisal: A solid well written adaptation, something which would make an ideal television 6 parter, or, even a feature if a name of considerable weight could be attached.
