Title: 'Sunstroke' 'Produced and Made 2006.
Author(s): Lesley Coburn
Date:

Synopsis: 'Sunstroke' is set in a small Spanish holiday resort and tells the story of two couples who holiday together with truly disasterous consequences. A mysterious neighbour proves to be the catalyst for a series of events which spiral out of control to such an extent that by the denouement only one couple survivor's. And two others are left dead in the wake.

Appraisal: This is an extremely good piece of writing which convincingly takes us on a journey of mayhem whilst remaining entirely plausable, a difficult task indeed. 'Sunstroke' due to it's chamber style drama is ideal for someone who is looking for a first time relatively low budget picture with contained locations that packs a big dramatic punch.

Title: Entertaining Angels
Author(s): Emma Passmore
Date: 18-5-06

Synopsis: When Esther's young husband dies, she finds it hard to come to terms with his suicide. Then she begins to discover the secret life he'd been leading, and becomes more and more distraught at the revelations she uncovers.

Appraisal: A really well written story, sensitive, sad, traumatic and extremely real in setting and characters. Emma's story goes beyond the simple tale of grieving, because as well as lighting a candle for the dead, it illuminates life. A great piece for a producer or director who want to make a really powerful drama on a low-mid budget.

Title: Nowhere Leads Somewhere
Author(s): Haris Kadunic
Date: 24-11-06

Synopsis: Three university students travel the length of the country giving a lift to a grieving widow on the way. A road movie that reveals a lot more than the passing scenery.

Appraisal: An old genre with a young cast, but done in a mature, realistic and down to earth way without any irritating one dimensional 'coolbrittania' hipness.

Title: 'Kronolog'
Author(s): Steven Hunyi
Date: 22-7-06

Synopsis: Kronolog is a very unusual drama/thriller in which two people enter a cinema only to discover the movie they watch is essentially their past in which secrets are revealed in a highly disturbing way.

Appraisal: This script stands out simply because it's different, in some ways almost surreal whilst maintaining a tangible sense of reality. Kronolog as it stands needs developing and if this is done by a producer/director team with flair, it could be something quite special. Certainly far more interesting than the continuous stream of second rate horror and gangster pics we in the UK seem to produce.

Title: The Spirit Healer
Author(s): Roy Vernon (Adapted from the the autobiography 'Through A Glass Brightly' By Nick Charles.
Date: 4-6-07-new draft written 29-8-08

Synopsis: The story of Nick Charles, one time pop singer, who became a serious alcoholic and subsequently on the verge of death on a number of occasions. A suicide attempt that found him lying on a railway track and falling asleep went wrong when he discovered the following morning that on that day the trains ceased to run on the same line....this cathartic moment then saw Nick not just becoming a reformed alcoholic, but also a champion for alcoholics rehabilitation, culminating in him setting up a special unit in London and being decorated with the MBE.

Appraisal: A thoroughly tragic/heartwarming story, written with wit and told with great honesty and lucidity. Certainly one of the finest stories written on the subject of alcoholism you're ever likely to find. This adapted screenplay certainly does the autobiography justice. Now having recently been re-drafted it's tighter and better than ever.

Synopsis: The story of a team of double-dealing pyramid sellers trying to outdo each other at every turn.

Appraisal: Well worked consistant drama very much in the mould of Glengary-Glenross.....but with a lot more twists of fate. A script with excellent potential if carefully developed.
